Allen Painter

Allen Painter, 75, of Milan Ohio passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Allen was born August 26, 1949, in Lodi, Ohio.  He greatly loved his wife and family. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren, and he rarely met a stranger. He was the sole proprietor and operator of Firelands Barber Shop in Huron Ohio for over 43 years. Throughout his four decades in business, he listened to a lot of stories from behind the barber chair, told a few himself, but most of all appreciated the wonderful community connections he made.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol (Demboske); and children, Jennifer (Robert) Cornelison of Sandusky, Melanie (Jeremy) Love of Sandusky, and Dennis (Heidi) Painter of Vermilion, grandchildren Cassi Wineland, Haley Cornelison, Gideon Love, Andrew Cornelison, Everett Painter, and Amelia Painter and three great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother David (Dawn) Painter of North Ridgeville; sister-in-law, Laurie Kuklis of Brecksville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Corbett and Creda (nee Parker) Painter; brother, Ronald Painter.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.

My thoughts and prayers to Al's family at this sad time. Al was so proud of his entire family and spoke of them often. I will, like so many others miss him and all of the stories. He was such a good friend.

I will sorely miss his jokes, his laugh, and his smile. I always enjoyed stopping by the barber shop when I was a kid after fishing at the lighthouse with my dad just to yell, "Hi Uncle Allen!!" Even with a patron in his chair, he would yell back at me, "Don't call me Uncle!!" and we would have a good laugh about it. You couldn't leave a conversation with him without a smile on your face. He just never sweated the small stuff and knew what was important. I wish the very best for his family.

July 2, 1979. Uncle Allen gave me my first haircut. I cried and he dealt with it. AWESOME
