Delores “Dee” Davis

Delores “Dee” Davis, 63, of Castalia and formerly of Milan, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 26, 2022.

Dee was born to the late Frances (Case) Irvine and Elmer Newsome on October 5, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio. She attended Edison High School and met and married the love of her life Carl Davis. Dee worked for Douthit Communications for 34 years and attended church at The Chapel in Port Clinton. Dee enjoyed gardening, reading, Harley rides with Carl, the beach, dancing and her most prized possession, her family. Dee was larger than life and would give anything for those she loved. She cherished making special memories with her family and grandkids. She was the queen of planning birthday parties, anniversary and beach trips, epic Christmas celebrations, bonfires, sleepovers, and fashion shows for the grandkids. She also enjoyed time at the racetrack and being outdoors and was always buying small things “just because”. She made everyone she came in contact with feel special and loved.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Carl Davis, her children Jake (Chris) Davis of Lisbon, John (Melissa) Davis of Grafton, Christina (Joe) Schelb of Indian Land, SC, her 12 grandkids Katlyn (Josiah) Norman, Max (Jenna) Davis, Hannah and Lyvia Davis, Gage and Baylee Smith, Evan and Marin Davis, Sienna and Aria Schelb, her sister Glema (Phil) King of Sandusky, brothers Jonah (Ruby) Newsome of Phelan CA, Daniel Newsome of Sandusky OH, and Allen Newsome of Ironton OH, her mother-in-law Tina Davis of Castalia, as well as many brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Frances (Case) Irvine, sister, Erlena Medina, infant sister Inez, grandparents L.B. and Cynthia (Hunter) Case, and father-in-law Carl Davis Sr.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at 2:00 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E Main Street, Norwalk. Burial will follow at Collins Cemetery.

I poem I wrote for her:

All of the sudden and unexpected it was,
I must be present, I say thus because,
I wasn't for her motherand self loathing occurred.
The guilt tortured my heart, oh haven't you heard?

I'm in disbelief. You couldn't have passed.
Rest peacefully with your mother and sister at last.
My heart aches for your and your family left behind.
I hope that close soon we all find

Swift and painless I hoped your passing had gone.
I hope that comfort in that fact will be for everyone.
Forever you'll sleep in His presence you three.
For of this life you are now completely free.

Rest easy with grandma Frankie and my mom! I'm sure they are both elated and sad to see you.

Carl and family, Dee was a special lady, just like aunt Frankie. Always opening her heart to anyone she came in contact with. I remember her and Carl coming to Florida to see my mom and stepdad and sit for hours on the front porch talking. You welcomed my stepdad as if you had known him your whole life. Dee will be greatly missed by myself and many others. She was taken way too soon but God only knows why. Carl, you and your family are in my prayers. May God comfort you in these trying times. God has received another angel!!! RIH Dee
