Urban Livengood Jr.

Urban C Livengood, Jr, age 80, former Huron County Engineer, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019 at his home in Las Vegas, NV following a brief illness.

Urban was born in Norwalk, OH, to the late Urban C. Sr. and Helen (Bonstell) Livengood. He graduated from Milan High School then attended Fenn College (now Cleveland State University) graduating in 1962 with his Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering. Soon after, he became a certified land surveyor. He owned Livengood Engineering Surveying Company in Norwalk. He served as the Huron County Engineer and was instrumental in the revitalization of the Linwood Bridge and in forming Sycamore Hills & the Huron County Airport.

He moved to Las Vegas in 1981 to work at the McCarren International Airport and later served as the Deputy Director of Public Works in Clark County, Nevada. He served on many boards in Las Vegas and was responsible for approving new growth in the city. After he retired, he worked at FEMA as a consultant for rebuilding roads and bridges destroyed by natural disasters. An avid golfer, he was an official and announcer during several matches and tournaments including the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational where Tiger Woods won his first PGA Tournament.

He leaves his daughter, Jacqueline (Mark) Sindlinger of Norwalk, OH; his son, Drew H. (Valerie) Livengood of Las Vegas; his brother, Larry P. (Juanita) Livengood of Milan; sister, Susan Essex of Norwalk; step-daughter, Michele (Randy) Lemery of Tarpon Springs, Florida; step-son, Sean (Kerry) Steffanni of Norwalk; (10) grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Carl D. Essex.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2019, 11:00 A.M., at the Milan Cemetery.
