Richard Eugene King, age 86, of Norwalk, passed away Saturday, August 03, 2019 at Stein Hospice Care Center.

He was born February 16, 1933 in Dennison, OH to the late William C. And Suda King. He graduated with a BA cum laude from Muskingum College, a MA from Eastern Michigan University and an Ed.S. from Kent State University. He served as a teacher and basketball coach at Port Washington, Centerburg, Carrollton and North Canton. He served as a Principal at Avon, a superintendent at Johnstown and Amherst. He served in the US Navy from 1951 until 1957 and was awarded the Korean Service Medal. He was a member of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra (Ken) Moyer of Norwalk; son, Greg King of Primm, NV; granddaughters, Brittany (Michael) Koba, Jennifer (Adam) Thompson and Ashley (Jorge) Ramos; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Farkas and Don (Carol) King.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Shirley E. (Hamilton) King in 2003.

He received immediate burial beside his wife at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. A family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
