Sarah Ann Flickinger

Sarah Ann Flickinger, age 92, of Norwalk, passed away Monday evening, November 19, 2018 at her residence, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Ashland on February 18, 1926 and was a graduate of Ashland High School and attended William and Mary and Lake Erie College. She was adventurous, enjoyed traveling and was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Norwalk. She was a court appointed special advocate for children (CASA), enjoyed her bridge club, was an animal lover and loved to make cinnamon rolls for her family and friends. She was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed her birds, squirrels and chipmunks. She had a primitive gift shop out of her home for many years, The Bayberry Bush.

She is survived by her children, Charles F. (Ann) Flickinger of Brooklyn, NY, John K (Laurie) Flickinger of Norwalk, Ann L. (Bruce) Higley of Shaker Heights and Beth E. (Erik) Swain of Willoughby; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. and Lucile L. Freer; former husband, K Stone Flickinger in 2005; son, Michael Stone Flickinger on April 13, 2017; and her sister, Jeanette Scantlebury.

Friends may call on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd, Norwalk with Pastor James Hodsden officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date in Ashland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk.
